U.S. Air Force Command Post Controller Michael “KillerMike” Clark took down the inaugural Madden 17 Club Series Seahawks Championship on Thursday night at the Paul Allen-owned Museum of Pop Culture in downtown Seattle, where he defeated tournament favorite and Edmonds native Shay “Young Kiv” Kivlen in the final round.

The e-sports competition featured eight of EA Sports’ top Madden gamers from around the nation, each of whom earned a spot in the event after competing in preliminary rounds held over the past six weeks, a road that featured a pool of more than 4,000 players.

Inside the MOPOP’s Sky Church, players took to the sticks in front of a crowd of Seahawks season-ticket holders and thousands more watching live online through EA Sports’ Twitch stream. Seattle wideout Doug Baldwin, who recently took part in a Madden tournament of his own, and Seahawks Legend Jordan Babineaux also stopped by and took part in an exhibition game filled with plenty of friendly banter.

But in the end it was “KillerMike” who claimed the tournament title, as he topped “Young Kiv” by a final score of 38-31 to advance to the Madden 17 Club Series Championship in early April, when he’ll have a chance to qualify for the 2017 EA Sports Madden Championship in May.
