The online component of Metal Gear Solid 4 turn off today per an announcement by Konami.
“We have regretfully come to a point where players have experienced all that this iteration of Metal Gear Online is able to offer,” reads the statement on Konami’s official website.
“It saddens us to announce that we have decided to end online service with the upcoming fourth anniversary of online service.”
While Metal Gear Online was originally scheduled to operate for only three years, Konami extended that deadline last year “out of respect for our loyal fans”.
Metal Gear Online was included with Metal Gear Solid 4 and launched in June 2008. The servers will close on June 12 at 23:59 JST.
