Following the reveal two weeks ago that Mark Millar’s Superior was headed for the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that his upcoming series MPH will also be making that journey as producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has bought the rights to the series. The search is on now for a screenwriter for the property, which will then be shopped around to studios.

“(Lorenzo’s) one of the few real moguls in the industry, having hired Chris Nolan for Batman and bought the rights to the Harry Potter books when he was head of Warner Bros. and then of course he’s the guy behind the Transformers movies,” Millar told the publication. “So he’s a guy who really knows how to make huge pictures and he’s somebody I’ve always wanted to work with on one of the bigger Millarworld adaptations.”

Co-created by Millar with artist Duncan Fegredo, MPH is officially described as follows:

“When a group of hard-luck teens in Motor City stumble upon a street drug called MPH, they gain the power of super speed. Will they use it to save the world? Hell no! Not when there’s dolla, dolla bills to be had, y’all. A high-octane urban adventure, MPH brings you super speed like you’ve never seen before!”

The first issue of MPH will hit comic shops on May 21.
