The number of titles on the Mac App Store has cracked the 10,000 mark, Mac Génération observes. Apple hasn’t formally revealed the figure, but the company typically skips mentioning most app milestones until press events or conference calls. The next opportunity will likely be the keynote at June’s WWDC.

The Mac App Store has been live since January 6th of last year, when it had roughly 1,000 titles available. It continues to be dwarfed by the original iOS App Store, which has in excess of 600,000 apps. Mac apps tend to be more complex than their iOS counterparts however, and cater to a smaller userbase, which may discourage development. Mac developers are also free to publish outside of the App Store, where Apple claims a 30 percent cut of revenues on paid titles.
