Lockerz Photo Sharing Service Releases First iPhone App

Photo sharing service Lockerz, formerly known as Plixi, has launched its first app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Lockerz distinguishes itself from other services by assigning “PTZ” (points) to certain actions on its network, such as signing in or uploading images. Points earned are then usable as a discount when shopping for certain brands.

The app currently awards points for just three core actions: signing in, uploading images and answering a simple one-question daily poll. Its overall functions are in fact relatively limited so far, the software’s only other options being sharing, photo filters and changing settings. More are planned in the future though, including “further” integration with Facebook and Twitter and the ability to buy things through the Lockerz Shop and iTunes.

The Lockerz app is a free download. It runs on iOS 4 or later, but is optimized only for the iPhone and Touch, not the iPad.
