HungerTarsier Studios — the developer behind LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and contributor on the original LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 for PlayStation 3 — announced its new game recently: the third-person action adventure Hunger.

In Hunger, players control 9-year-old Six, a girl who has been kidnapped from her home and taken to work in a surrealistic and elite underwater resort called The Maw. An “unexpected twist of fate” offers Six a chance to escape, and her subsequent journey through the strange world of The Maw offers her a look at the “corrupt heart of modern happiness.” The title incorporates some stealth elements and will emphasize exploration along Six’s quest.

During the 2014 Nordic Game Conference in Sweden this week, it was announced that Hunger’s development is made possible in part by 500,000 Danish kroner ($91,736.50) in funding from the Nordic Game Program.

“This is not only a huge vote of confidence from the Nordic Game Program expert group,” Tarsier CEO Ola Holmdahl said in a press statement. “The grant enables us to explore an idea we are deeply passionate about. Hunger holds fantastic potential, and our job now is to harness that promise into a great experience.”

Currently there are no details on release dates for Hunger. Holmdahl told Polygon that Tarsier is aiming to make Hunger a downloadable title for PlayStation 4.

Hunger is Tarsier’s first original IP since showing PlayStation 3 title The City of Metronome at E3 2005. The game was never published. In 2009, the developer became an independent studio operating with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios and the following year signed a publishing deal with SCE Europe for a then-unannounced project.
