Ligatt Security has debuted a Mac version of its popular flagship product LocatePC, called LocateMac. The new edition was the result of switchers requesting a Mac version, and is designed to work on all Macs. The software will take pictures using the built-in camera (if available), and features unlimited hardware monitoring, text messaging, remote deletion of pre-selected folders and more.

Once a machine has been lost or stolen, users can login to the LocatePC/Mac website using any web browser. LocateMac uses leverages geolocation to help locate a lost or stolen, and features free apps for the iPad or iPhone to help track the machine. Alerts can be sent each time the computer’s IP address changes. Key logging can be activated, the lost machine can send an on-screen message to a thief, generate an automatic PDF police or insurance report and can even delete sensitive information stored in a pre-selected folder.

The program runs on a Mac without icons or pop-ups, and the company offers to reimburse users up to $1000 if law enforcement authorities fail to recover the lost or stolen machine. LocateMac costs $30 per year. A 30-day free trial is available.
