Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Now Has a Release Date

zelda_tri_force_heroes_displayThe Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes for Nintendo 3DS may not be the Zelda game that everyone was looking for, but it is still a new entry for the series. Nintendo confirmed today that Tri Force Heroes will come out this October 23rd in Europe. North America does not have a set release date just yet, but based off of previous releases in the series (compared to other Nintendo franchises…) it wouldn’t be far fetched to assume it will hit our side of the pond not long after.

Players looking to journey through Hyrule with friends on the Nintendo 3DS have had limited options. The company released The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition a few years ago, but since then, the multiplayerfront has been a bit slim in Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes hopes to change all of that by bringing back two multiplayer (and multicolor) heroes — Red Link and Blue Link — to travel on with the traditional Green Link in a cooperative journey through the world.

Tri Force Heroes features the overhead camera that was present in both A Link to the Past and, more recently, A Link Between Worlds. The new 3DS game is built with cooperative multiplayer in mind. All three of the Heroes of Hyrule must work together to overcome obstacles or take down enemies using the new “tower” stance. All three Links have different main abilities; instead of simply swinging the sword around as Green Link does, Blue Link fights mostly with a bow and arrow while Red Link uses magic powers to ward off fiendish foes. One of the funnier perks offered by Tri Force Heroes is the ability to dress any of the Links up in costumes,
