JVC Ships Its First 3D HD Camcorder

Posted by at 12:06 pm on March 7, 2011

JVC today claimed a milestone as the first to ship a camcorder for the mainstream with 3D in HD. The GZ-TD1 should be in stores now and should cost $1,699.95 for its 1080i 3D shooting. The camera comes with 64GB of flash storage built-in and an SDXC slot for more.

The camera uses two 3.3-megapixel CMOS sensors to create a stereoscopic effect for its 3D and can also work in extra modes, including side-by-side 3D and regular 2D. Recording in the full HD mode limits the playback to those few devices that support the MVC format, but the side-by-side mode will work even on 2D Blu-ray players.

It promises relatively bright and sharp images through its dual 5X, f1.2 lenses/
