Julian McMahon Joins the Cast of Childhood’s End

Julian McMahonSyfy has brought aboard Julian McMahon for the upcoming six-hour “Childhood’s End” miniseries, which is slated to premiere in 2015. The “Nip/Tuck” actor will star opposite Daisy Betts (“Shutter”), the cable channel announced Wednesday.

“Childhood’s End,” adapted from Arthur C. Clarke’s 1953 novel, follows the peaceful invasion of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, who begin decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.

McMahon stars as Rupert Boyce, an American entrepreneur, and Betts will play Ellie, an arts graduate engaged to Ricky Stormgren (Mike Vogel), the most influential person in the world.

McMahon and Betts join previously announced cast members Vogel, Ashley Zukerman, Charles Dance, Osy Ikhile and Yael Stone.

“Childhood’s End” will be adapted by Matthew Graham (BBC’s “Life on Mars”). Akiva Goldsman (“I Am Legend,” “Paranormal Activity”), Mike De Luca (“Captain Philips,” “Moneyball,” “The Social Network”) and Alissa Phillips (“Moneyball,” “Mob City”) are executive producers. Universal Cable Productions will be the studio.
