Walt Disney Pictures is planning a feature film based on its theme park attraction, it‘s a small world. Deadline reports that National Treasure helmer Jon Turteltaub will direct from a script by Jared Stern (who, with Michelle Morgan, is writing Warner Bros. Pictures’ The LEGO Movie sequel).
Plot details are, at this stage, nill but it’s a small world will likely expand on the ride’s overall message of global unity. Now operating at six Disney parks worldwide, the attraction consists of a boat ride through various international cities while parkgoers are serenaded by stylized, animatronic children and their rendition of the ride’s popular theme song.
Stern and Turteltaub will both produce alongside Dan Lin.
