John Travolta Grabs Featured Role In American Crime Story

john-travoltaJohn Travolta is returning to television. The actor has landed a starring role in FX’s highly anticipated “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” from Ryan Murphy, the cable network announced Wednesday.

Travolta, who will also serve as a producer on the 10-episode miniseries, has been cast as Robert Shapiro, a key member of Simpson’s “Dream Team” during the murder trial.

He joins the previously announced cast, David Schwimmer who will play Robert Kardashian, Sarah Paulson who will portray prosecutor Marcia Clark and Cuba Gooding Jr. who will star as Simpson.

This marks Travolta’s first starring television role since “Welcome Back, Kotter.”

Murphy, along with Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexander, Karaszewski, Brad Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto are executive producers.

“American Crime Story,” based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. Production begins in Los Angeles in 2015.
