51-year-old Oscar-nominated filmmaker John Singleton who suffered a stroke a few days ago has died today after being taken off life support.
Singleton was hospitalized April 20th at Cedars Sinai and put into a medically-induced coma several days after.
Singleton made his feature directorial debut in 1991 with the celebrated Boyz n the Hood. He also know for other films including Poetic Justice, Shaft, Rosewood, Four Brothers, and 2 Fast 2 Furious.
His Tv credits included American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson, Empire and Snowfall.
His family says details about memorial services will be provided at a later date.
