John Krasinski has landed the coveted role of Jack Ryan in Amazon’s TV series from Carlton Cuse, based on Tom Clancy’s famed CIA character. Variety has reported that Krasinski has been Cuse’s top pick for the lead role ever since the project was developed.

Cuse and “Lost” alum Graham Roland are shepherding the Jack Ryan adaptation. Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Paramount TV and Skydance TV are producing. The project reunites Krasinski with Bay, who directed the drama “13 Hours,” in which the actor starred earlier this year, he first gained fame for his role in “The Office.”

The Jack Ryan series landed at Amazon with a series commitment, contrasting from their typical pilot testing method for potential shows. Though the series has not yet been greenlit, Krasinski’s casting will likely expedite the process. No episode order has been determined.

Five films — all from Paramount — were based on Clancy’s book, which introduced Jack Ryan as an ex-Marine who is drafted into the CIA. Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and most recently, Chris Pine, starred in the flicks with Pine tackling the role in “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” in 2014.
