iOS 7 LogoAfter a lengthy development and testing period, Apple has released the finished version of iOS 7.1 to the public. The code makes a number of improvements to iOS 7, for instance enabling CarPlay support in yet-to-be-launched vehicles. Siri will now let users hold down the Home button to decide how long a device should listen, instead of having to wait for the system to decide no one is talking. More naturalistic voices have been supplied for Japanese, British and Australian English, and Mandarin Chinese.

Calendar has gained the ability to display events in the Month view, and nation-specific holidays have been automatically added for a number of countries. iTunes Radio improvements include in-app iTunes Match subscriptions, a search field above Featured Stations that makes it easier to create custom stations, and an option to buy albums from the Now Playing window.

Bold fonts now apply to the keyboard, calculator, and many icons; likewise, the Reduce Motion toggle newly affects Weather, Messages, and multitasking animations. iCloud Keychain has been made available in more countries, and a new Camera setting can automatically enable HDR on the iPhone 5s. FaceTime call notifications should be cleared automatically when a call is answered on another device.

Bugfixes deal with iPhone 4 performance, homescreen crashes, and the accuracy of Touch ID. iOS 7.1 can be downloaded either as an over-the-air update or through iTunes.
