'Good Morning America' Summer Concert Series, New York, USA - 10 Jun 2016Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios are both getting into business with Iggy Azalea. The two studios combined forces to snag a first-look deal with the Australian musician and her production company, Azalea Street.

Under the deal, Azalea will develop content geared toward the current “It” generation: millennials. That content will focus, therefore, on topics like social justice and empowering young women, and it may be scripted or unscripted — thus the involvement of both the scripted and unscripted studio arms of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment — and distributed in any of the myriad ways people now watch video, be it on a regular TV through a cable box or, as “30 Rock” predicted, in 10-second bites on their phones.

“Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine,” Azalea said in a statement. “I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Azalea, whose hit single “Fancy” has been stuck in your head since 2014 and who has over the last five years found herself embroiled in various race-related controversies, will also be a judge on the next season of “The X Factor Australia,” along with Adam Lambert and Guy Sebastian.
