Hunger Games Theme Park Attraction Planned – More Star Wars

There’s never been a better time to try and turn popular films into a theme park attraction and while Disney is hard at work adapting their recently-acquired Marvel properties into something, the notion of more “Star Wars” attractions are still on the horizon. Speaking with Bloomberg.com, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger had this to say about future “Star Wars” expansions.

“The only thing I can share, which actually I don’t think we’ve talked about much, is there is a fair amount of development going on at Disney Imagineering right now to expand the Star Wars presence in California and in Orlando and eventually in other parks around the world. We do have Star Wars in other theme parks, France, Paris and in Tokyo, and we haven’t made any specific announcements of what will be in Shanghai or what will be added in Hong Kong after we build an Iron Man attraction, but I think it’s likely that Star Wars will be in more than just our two domestic parks.”

In addition, TheWrap reports that Lionsgate has been approached “in two different territories about potential theme park opportunities” for their hit franchise “The Hunger Games.” “We’re excited about those opportunities and we’re pursuing them,” Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said on an earnings conference call. No word on where these territories are or what the attraction could be.
