HP has added two new product ranges to its lineup in new the Elitebook ‘w’ series notebooks and an expanded Z Workstation line, the Z210 series. The new ‘w’ series, which is to signify that they are mobile workstations, includes the HP EliteBook 8760w, 8560w and 8460w. As one might expect of desktop replacement notebooks, the new range is highly specified and incorporate graphics options including a choice of the AMD FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro with up to 4GB of dedicated VRAM available on the 8760w. Intel Sandy Bridge, second-gen Core i7 or Core i5 power the devices.

The 8760w also offers a 17.3-inch 1080p display and can be configured with up to three hard drives and RAID 5 support. The 8560w incorporates a 15.6-inch HD display and AMD FirePro graphics with 1GB of VRAM or NIVIDIA Quadro graphics with 2GB of VRAM. The 8460w is HP’s lightest mobile workstation, weighs 4.9 pounds, includes a 14-inch HD panel with AMD FirePro graphics with 1GB of VRAM.

The HP DreamColor display option on the HP EliteBook 8760w and 8560wallows for more than 1 billion active color combinations – 64 times the capabilities of a traditional display – and uses a 30-bit notebook LCD panel to provide a level of color control exclusive to the EliteBook w-series for consistent color appearance from concept, to design, to production. The HP Mobile Display Assistant and optional HP Advanced Profiling Solution enable more precise control, adjustment and alignment of the DreamColor notebook display to ensure predictable color.

The new Z210 workstations are aimed at video editors, MCAD/AEC users as well as those in education, public sector and image viewing industries. As entr-level workstations, the emphasis is on offering good value for money. The computers are powered by either Intel’s Xeon E3 processors or second-gen Core i3, i5 or i7 chips depending on configuration.

The HP Z210 models offer a range of professional graphics options, including 2-D choices from AMD and NVIDIA that incorporate dual graphics card capabilities that support up to four 2-D displays. 3-D choices include next-generation processor-integrated Intel high-definition graphics that lower the entry cost for professional 3-D graphics, and entry and midrange graphics from NVIDIA and AMD.

The HP EliteBook 8760w, 8560w and 8460w start at $1,899, $1,349 and $1,299 respectively, and are expected to be available in the US in May. The new HP Z210 Workstations are expected to be available this spring. US pricing starts at $659 for the HP Z210 CMT Workstation and $569 for the HP Z210 SFF Workstation.
