HopStop Turns off Windows Phone App, After of Apple Buyout

Transit direction service HopStop has completely halted support for its Windows Phone app, reports say.

The app is no longer available for download, and people who already have it installed are receiving an error message directing them to the mobile website or equivalent iOS and Android apps. HopStop was bought out by Apple earlier this month.

Apple typically shuts out all other platforms when it buys a multi-platform developer, making it unusual that the HopStop Android app is still accessible. The expectation is that HopStop’s technology will be integrated into iOS 7 Maps, adding missing public transit directions. Transit options were available in iOS 5, but were stripped out for iOS 6 when Apple decided to abandon Google content in everything but search.
