Griffin, having recently expanded its offerings for musicians and announced a deal with music distribution giant Hal Leonard, is offering two new products for the mobile musician at CES 2014. Newly announced are the iOS- and OS X-compatible multi-track recording hardware StudioConnect HD, and the new Guitar Sidekick clamp for guitars and other fretted instruments.

StudioConnect HD

StudioConnect HD is an all-in-one, high-definition audio interface for multi-track recording, the only device of its kind that records multiple tracks simultaneously to iOS or OS X. Constructed of metal, StudioConnect HD also serves as a stable charging platform for an iOS device. The unit is compatible with both Lightning and 30-pin iPad models, and includes a Type A USB cable for connecting to a computer running OS X.

The StudioConnect HD accommodates Core Audio recording apps for iPad, along with OS X-based Digital Audio Workstations. It features two 1/4-inch combo inputs with individual gain, pad switch, 48v of phantom power, and a signal/clip LED indicator. USB MIDI and five-pin MIDI is supported.

Guitar Sidekick

Griffin is also introducing the new Guitar Sidekick, a clamp that lets guitarists, bassists and other fretted instrument players mount smartphones or smartphone-sized media players on their instruments. Affixed to the guitar’s headstock at the end of the neck, Guitar Sidekick gives musicians easy access to music lessons and tutorials, tablature and chord charts, and tools like tuning and recording apps. The adjustable clamp has no effect on tuning or playability, and easily fits in a pocket or case.

The StudioConnect HD will be available in the fall of this year for $200. Guitar Sidekick is a $20 peripheral, and will be available in March.
