Google today announced that the free Gmail application for iOS is once again available for download in the iPhone App Store. The application was released a couple of weeks ago, and then almost immediately pulled due to several bugs. Google says that the new version has fixed the notification bug, but Google stopped short of adding new features. Instead, Google will work over time to add new features and capabilities to the application, all based on user feedback.
“We’re just getting started with the Gmail app for iOS and will be iterating rapidly to bring you more features,” the company said in a blog post. “Based on your comments we have already improved our handling of image HTML messages — they are now sized to fit to the screen and you can pinch to zoom in.” Gmail for iOS is free to download and requires iOS 4 and up.
