Roadside Attractions has today debuted the trailer for their upcoming post-apocalyptic tale Z for Zachariah, starring Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Focus), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Children of Men) and Chris Pine (Star Trek, Into the Woods).
Directed by Craig Zobel (Compliance) and written by Nissar Modi (Breaking at the Edge), Z for Zachariah takes place in the wake of a nuclear war, following a young woman (Robbie), who survives on her own. Fearing she may actually be the proverbial last woman on earth, she then discovers the most astonishing sight of her life: another human being (Ejiofor). A distraught scientist, he’s nearly been driven mad by radiation exposure and his desperate search for others. A fragile, imperative strand of trust connects them. But when a stranger (Pine) enters the valley, their precarious bond begins to unravel.
Z for Zachariah is set for a limited theatrical release August 21. Our own Ed Douglas took an early look at the film during this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
