Google updated the Gmail application for iOS devices recently and it now works better with other Google apps.
Specifically, links embedded in emails can be opened directly into Google+ and Google Drive, if the device owner so chooses, rather than open in the browser. The improved Gmail app also handles attachments better with bigger thumbnails and full-screen previews.
Gmail is free to download from the iTunes App Store.
