FX Grabs New Tom Hardy Series

TOm HardyFX has grabbed domestic rights to the BBC period drama series “Taboo,” to star Tom Hardy. The series hails from producer Ridley Scott and scribe Steven Knight. It’s the first effort to come from the production Hardy Son & Baker banner Hardy has launched with his father, Chips Hardy.

The story is set in 1813 and revolves around an adventurer who returns from African with a plan to build a trade and shipping empire and seek vengeance for the death of his father. Eight episodes are set to go into production by the end of the next year for a 2016 debut.

“Tom’s passion for this project, from conceiving the original idea with his father to portraying James Delaney, promises to infuse this epic story with great personal passion and credibility,” said Eric Schrier, FX prexy of original programming and FX Prods.
