Netflix has canceled Friends From College after two seasons. Co-creator Nicholas Stoller broke the news to fans Monday night on Twitter.
“Friends from College will not be returning for a third season,” Stoller said. “Thanks to everyone who watched it. Happy Presidents’ Day!”
Netflix soon issued its own statement confirming the news. “We’re grateful to creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco for creating a wise, funny and supremely relatable show,” the network said. “We also want to thank the hard-working crew, and we raise a glass to the amazingly talented cast including Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Savage, Cobie Smulders, Nat Faxon, Annie Parisse, Jae Suh Park and Billy Eichner.”
Created by Stoller and Delbanco and directed by Stoller, the dramedy centered on a group of Harvard pals played by Key, Smulders, Parisse, Faxon, Savage and Park.
The series also featured Eichner, Greg Germann, Sarah Chalke and Zack Robidas in recurring roles. It premiered in July 2017 and was renewed for a second season the following month.
The show’s end comes on something of a housecleaning day for Netflix. Earlier on Monday, the streamer also canceled its two remaining live-action Marvel shows: The Punisher, whose second season debuted last month; and Jessica Jones, which just wrapped production on season three, set to stream later this year.
