Flash Player 11 and Air 3 to in Ship in October

Adobe is set to deliver the first version of its ubiquitous Flash Player that will be 3D-capable. Flash Player 11 and the developer platform Air 3 are due to arrive in October and are said to offer significant enhancements over previous versions of the products. Flash Player 11 is also claimed to offer rendering enhancements in 2D mode in the order of 1000 times faster rendering and is explained in the video embedded below.

The revised Flash platform will be available for all major desktop operating systems in the first instance. Mac OS X​, Windows and Linux will be the first to get the new software. Adobe is working on bringing the platform to mobile devices, but is still in pre-release testing for Flash Player 11 on mobile devices including Android and the BlackBerry Tablet OS.

Adobe also says that it is currently working with Microsoft to bring Flash to Windows Phone 7, although the company has not outlined when this might become available. Further, the video below also demonstrates how Adobe’s cross-compiling tools have enabled the Flash platform to be ported across to Apple’s iOS platform and cite the successful iPad game Imaginarium as an example of game that uses its technologies
