The first official trailer for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest X has been released. The video opens with some CGI cutscenes before showing actual gameplay, indicating the game’s high quality graphics.

Dragon Quest X marked the long-running RPG series’ first foray into the MMORPG genre, launching in Japan on Wii in August 2012 before hitting Wii U in March 2013, PC last September, and smartphones via cloud streaming in December.

According to Square Enix, the 3DS version of the game will offer the full Dragon Quest X experience, allowing 3DS players to play alongside Wii, Wii U and PC players.

Dragon Quest X has sold over one million copies and has around 300,000 daily active players in Japan, producer Yosuke Saito said in April.

Set to launch on September 4, the handheld version will cost 3800 yen plus tax (£22/€27/$37). It will come with a 60 day subscription, a poster and a variety of in-game goods.

Square Enix said in May that it is considering releasing Dragon Quest X outside of Japan, but western launch plans have yet to be confirmed.
