There wasn’t anything too exciting included in Fallout 4’s latest PlayStation 4 patch, but we’re pleasantly surprised to hear that the update seems to have improved the graphical quality of the title on Sony’s console.

According to our pals over at Digital Foundry, who have run multiple tests on the game, Bethesda’s blockbuster now loads environmental details better than before. In other words, stuff like grass, building textures, and other bits and pieces should pop into view at longer distances, essentially making the post-apocalyptic release look prettier in general.

The publication’s report states that “it’s a great addition to the game that pulls it closer to the look of PC’s higher ‘fade’ settings,” and the best part is that the increased visual fidelity doesn’t come at a price. Apparently, the game runs just as smoothly as it did before the patch, although it’s worth mentioning that Digital Foundry claim that there are some slight frame rate drops when overlooking Diamond City – a minor issue that wasn’t present before.

In any case, we’re totally on board with updates that improve how a title looks and doesn’t come with any significant negatives, so props to Bethesda for seemingly delivering a rather good patch.

Have you noticed any differences after playing Fallout 4 with the latest update installed?
