Photo MagicFacebook says tests of Photo Magic have gone well and today it is adding the feature to Messenger for users in the U.S. Photo Magic scans users’ camera roll using face-recognition software.

When it finds people it associates with other Facebook accounts, the app will suggest the photo be shared with that person via Messenger. Facebook believes people will be more apt to share photos if it does some of the leg work in the background.

People can opt out of being recognized if they wish. Facebook is making its Android and iOS apps customizable, as well. Users can select different colors and assign nicknames.

Messenger now also has several holiday-themed emoji, stickers and animations.

Messenger is free to download from the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store.
