Facebook has released an update for its native iOS app, bringing it up to v4.1.1. The key addition is that of a Retina-quality interface for iPads. The delay between the launch of the new iPad and a Facebook app update may be linked to an App Store submission backlog, as developers work to update their apps’ graphics.
A number of other important changes have also been made, however. Several new language options are available, including Czech, Danish, Greek, Indonesian, Malaysian, Norwegian (Bokmal), Portuguese (Portugal), and Thai. In chat, users now have the option to manually appear offline.
Several glitches have been fixed as well. A person’s friends list, for example, should consistently display all friends. User names will display correctly in photo sets, and profile images should load properly in groups of people who like a particular Facebook page. Gone too is a bug that caused accidental friend request notifications.
The Facebook app is a free download for any device using iOS 4 or later.
