Facebook releases its first full desktop app Monday by posting Messenger for Windows. The program lets PC users keep track of conversations without having to keep a browser tab open and risk missing notifications. When not immediately involved in chat, it provides a light version of the Facebook ticker’s stream of updates.
The company didn’t say when it might expand to other platforms. It has promised that a Mac app is in the works, but it hasn’t disclosed when it will be shipping.
