Evernote has released v2.0 of Food, an iOS app meant to be a comprehensive tool for food lovers. The update represents a major redesign, for instance including a native iPad interface. New categories have also been introduced, such as Explore Recipes, which lets people grab recipes from websites and save them into the new My Cookbook tab, which also incorporates recipes pulled from the regular Evernote app.

Another addition is the Restaurants tab, which displays lists and maps for local businesses. Users can bookmark restaurants they want to visit, and see the locations of earlier visits. My Meals is used to record past food experiences, including photos; here cuisines can be added to meals, or assigned automatically when picking a recommended place. Meals can be shared via email, Facebook, Twitter, or direct link.

Evernote has lastly tweaked sync functions. A Sync Now button forces Food to sync, while a “Sync on Wi-Fi only” option prevents the app from wasting cellular bandwidth.

Food is a free download, and requires iOS 6 or later.
