Emma RobertsEmma Roberts  has signed on to star in a television pilot that adapts Lauren Oliver’s Delirium, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. The novel was previously announced as a feature film, but it now appears to be heading to the small screen.

The book, a sci-fi romance released in 2011, is officially described as follows:

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love–the deliria–blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold.

Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: she falls in love.

Roberts recently starred in Celeste and Jesse Forever and will soon appear in Adult World, Empire State and We’re the Millers.

Karyn Usher adapted the screenplay for Delirium’s pilot and will executive produce alongside Peter Chernin, Mitchell Kaplan, Paul Mazur and Katherine Pope.
