Duracell Powermat has launched the 24-Hour Power System, bundling an iPhone case with a wireless charger and a backup battery. The collection arrives ahead of the Wireless Power Nation initiative, which will see public wireless charging hotspots for Powermat users.

First introducedin 2009, the Powermat system consists of a charging “mat” and a cellphone case, which contains the necessary components for inductive wireless charging.

The portable backup battery, included in the bundle, is claimed to carry one full charge for an iPhone, though it also connects to other devices with micro USB and Apple connectors.

The Wireless Power Nation initiative will be adding Powermat charging stations in high traffic areas, including New York City locations such as the Barclays Center, Madison Square Garden and the Delta Sky Club. Jay-Z, an investor in Duracell Powermat, the 40/40 Club and the Brooklyn Nets, said “Being able to charge wirelessly is a necessary step into the future and Duracell Powermat is leading the way.”

The Wireless Power Nation seems to be centered in New York, with expansion to other locations in the pipeline. The Duracell Powermat 24-Hour Power System is available online and through New York stores for $100, before heading to store shelves in other regions.
