DODOcase Brings Retro Case Out for the Kindle Fire

DODOcase turned its high-end case-making to Amazon’s Android tablet with the DODOcase for Kindle Fire. Like the iPad and BlackBerry PlayBook cases, the handmade case replicates the feel of a traditionally bound book and can be used both as a luxury case but also as a stealth case for those worried about conspicuous technology. The Kindle Fire itself sits in a bamboo tray that holds the slate while minimizing the ecological impact versus tree wood.

The spine is strong enough to let users fold the cover back completely. The handcrafted nature also helps with personalization, since owners can get text monogrammed in black or gold much the same way an old book’s title would be printed.

Buyers can pick from black, blue, green, or red inner linings on the cover. All colors cost $45 and will take some time to make. Monogramming adds another $10 to the price.
