Devil May Cry 5 Beta Now Available On The PS4

Devil May Cry 5 is easily one of the most hotly anticipated action games of the year, with its announcement at last year’s E3 generating excitement for long-time fans and newbies alike. But despite the series being mostly associated with Sony’s PlayStation consoles, Microsoft got to be the ones to reveal the title and the Xbox One even got an exclusive demo a couple of months ago. PlayStation owners, however, no longer need to feel like they’re being left out in the cold as that very same demo can now be downloaded for the PS4 today.

Though the final game will offer three playable characters (with potentially more on the way as DLC if players ask for it), the demo solely focuses on Nero, returning from Devil May Cry 4 with a new haircut and his Devil Breaker robot arm. The demo very much allows players to slay a whole bunch of demons while getting to grips with how Devil Breakers work, as each one comes with their own unique abilities and can be picked up throughout the levels.

This demo actually includes a new Devil Breaker that wasn’t available in the Xbox One demo – the Punch Line, which can fire rockets in multiple ways. This new addition may be all the incentive one needs to give the demo a second play through. Xbox One owners desperate to give this updated demo a shot can breathe easy as it’s available to download on their system too.

The demo will also allow players to carry their progress into the main game, as evidenced by the presence of Nico’s van. Nico is a brand new supporting character who builds Nero’s Devil Breakers, and it’s her van where players can upgrade new skills for Nero to make demon slaying that much easier and flashier.

Devil May Cry 5 is the first numbered game in the series to release since 2008’s Devil May Cry 4 and sees not just the return of Nero but also the series’ main star Dante, who join forces alongside mysterious newcomer V, to battle against a demon outbreak.

Devil May Cry 5 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 8th.
