Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel will make his directorial debut on the revenge thriller Monkey Man which will be presented at this year’s American Film Market.
Set in modern-day India but also incorporating mythology, Patel plays The Kid who emerges from prison to grapple with a world marred by corporate greed and eroding spiritual values.
Chung-hoon Chung (IT) will serve as cinematographer while 87Eleven (Atomic Blonde, John Wick) will choreograph the film’s action scenes.
Patel co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela. Basil Iwanyk, Joe Thomas, Samarth Sahni, and Patel will all produce with filming to begin in the Spring in Mumbai.
