Demon’s Crest Has Finally Arrived on 3DS Virtual Console

Demon’s Crest has now been finally added to the Virtual Console library on the 3DS. Released back in 1994 on the SNES, Demon’s Crest, or Demon’s Blazon as it was known in Japan, was a continuation of the Red Arremer spin off series developed by Capcom.

Red Arremer was one of the main and most formidable antagonists in the Ghosts ‘n Goblins games, also known as Makaimura in Japan, and built quite a following among gamers as a result.

The first of these spin offs was Red Arremer Makaimura Gaiden on the Game Boy, which was released in the West as Gargoyle’s Quest. Amusingly, one of the most important points about Red Arremer is that, well, he was red, whereas on the Western boxart for Gargoyle’s Quest he was depicted as green. As you can imagine, this was a little confusing for gamers back in the 90s.

Following the first Gargoyle’s Quest game, we were then graced with Gargoyle’s Quest II on both the Game Boy and NES. While not as good as the first game, it was definitely a solid entry into the series.
