Dell Ends The Streak 5 Tablet

Dell appears to have discontinued its Streak 5 tablet, which has been on the market for nearly a year.

Although the company last month pulled the five-inch tablet from retail shelves, the device was rumored to be facing temporary unavailability as the company rolled out a software update. The website for the device, however, points to a final farewell.

“Goodbye, Streak 5,” the site reads. “It’s been a great ride.”

Dell has yet to post an official reason for dropping the device, however it may have proved to be an awkward size. The five-inch display does not mesh with the larger layout of Google’s current tablet-optimized OS, Android 3.2, or the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich build.

The company directs customers to take a look at the seven-inch Streak 7 tablet.
