Dell announced that six new products would be joining its lineup of Precision workstations. These new systems include four new laptops and two desktops with Intel Skylake processors and workstation GPUs.
The Precision 7710, in its top configuration, takes its place as the most powerful 17” system in the Precision mobile workstation product line. At the same time, the new 7510 will become the fastest 15” system. Both of these new notebooks can use the same CPUs, ranging from high-end Xeon processors down to a Skylake Core i5. What sets these two systems apart the most is the size of the system and the option to use more powerful workstation GPUs inside of the 7710.
“We listened to our customers from media and entertainment, engineering, manufacturing, finance and beyond to deliver the highest performing systems for their critical workloads,” said Rahul Tikoo, director and general manager for Dell Precision. “This portfolio brings together industry-leading solutions combining great, new technologies from our hardware partners, seamless functionality with critical applications from our software partners, and amazing innovations from our Dell engineering teams to deliver powerful and beautifully-balanced mobile and fixed workstations to our customers.”
The two other mobile workstations released may not be the fastest, but instead, Dell opted to focus on reducing the weight and size of these systems. Dell claimed that the Precision 5510 is Dell’s lightest, thinnest and smallest workstation ever produced. Dell also claimed that the 5510 is the world’s first 15″ workstation to use an InfinityEdge display.
Similar to the 5510, the Precision 3510 is reported to be 26 percent thinner and up to 12 percent lighter compared to the previous top-end Precision 15 3000 series notebook.
With the exception of the Precision 3510, all of these new laptops have the option to come with an UltraSharp IGZO display. These displays support UHD 4K resolutions and provide 100 percent of the minimum Adobe color gamut, giving you superior color reproduction compared to the other display options.

In the world of desktops, Dell also introduced two Precision desktop workstations designed to be affordable and compact while also providing adequate performance. With the information given, however, there isn’t much to say about these systems at this time. Dell stated that they could use virtually any Skylake processor. These systems could also use advanced workstation GPUs, or simply offer Intel’s integrated graphics. As such, there are far too many potential system configurations for us to make a definite comment about the system specs.
