You wouldn’t know it at first glance, but Looney Toons characters like Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd are as old as comic book superheroes – Bugs Bunny himself unofficially debuted the same month Action Comics #1 was published in 1938. With such long histories, it’s surprising they haven’t been in more crossovers together, especially since Bugs and DC Comics are owned by Warner Bros.
Still, at least someone at WB recognizes the appeal between these characters, and will bring them together for a comic book variant cover campaign this November. And a few images look so natural, you’d almost assume each Looney Tune was in the core book.
DC Comics has unveiled the twenty five images. Catwoman #46 will have Tweety Bird realize he’s been nabbed by putty tat Selina Kyle. Batman Beyond #6 sees Terry McGinnis team up with Duck Dodgers of the 24th and 1/2 Century. In a homage to the classic Superman vs. Mohammad Ali cover, Superman will get back into the ring with the Crusher. And in a unique twist, PepĂ© Le Pew tries to escape a Tamaran paramour in Starfire #6.
