Dc IndiesDC Comics has eight, six-issue miniseries coming in early 2016. With the help of their original creators, the new run aims to reintroduce forgotten characters from DC’s back catalogue while also giving them a new lick of paint. The full list of everything coming next-year is as follows:

Swamp Thing – Len Wein
Metal Men – Len Wein
Raven – Marv Wolfman
Firestorm – Gerry Conway
Katana: Cult of the Kobra – Mike W. Barr
Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death – Amy Chu
Metamorpho – Aaron Lopresti
Sugar & Spike – Keith Giffen

The comics come as DC continues its plan to further diversify its lines. Should any of the comics become a hit, it’s assumed we’ll be seeing more from them in the future.

“This is about character but there is a complete story in every one of those miniseries,” DC co-publisher Dan DiDio told USA Today. “It has a beginning, middle and end, and something that affects the course of that character that we would be able to launch and take further if things are successful.”

As a testing grounds of sorts, the new line also offers the chance to showcase these characters to an entirely new audience. Case-in-point: Raven.

“When I go to comic conventions it thrills me to see all the young fans cosplaying as Raven from the Teen Titans GO! cartoon show,” Marv Wolfman said. “Because so many comic fans are boys, it’s wonderful that there’s something about her that connects with both girls and boys.”
