Batman MadefireDC Entertainment looks to further their digital initiatives through a partnership with motion comics company Madefire, the companies have announced. The deal launched with a now-available “Batman: Arkham Origins” iOS app, dubbed a “DC2 MultiVerse graphic novel.”

Unlike traditional digital comics, the “Arkham Origins” app is described as a “multi-path reading experience,” functioning similar to a “Choose Your Own Adventure” novel. The story is a prequel to the recently released video game, with a new chapter released every two weeks, and a total of eight installments planned. Additionally, readers of the digital series will receive two exclusive skins to use in the “Arkham Origins” game, “Injustice Batman” and an exclusive “New 52 Metallic Batman.”

“DC2 MultiVerse is the latest in a series of innovations that demonstrates how we work with digital partners like Madefire to organically enhance comics and the digital storytelling art form,” DC co-publisher Jim Lee said in a statement.

Also part of the DC/Madefire deal is a remastered version of the “Injustice: Gods Among Us” digital comic, which includes motion and sound effects. The remixed “Injustice” is also available now. Madefire launched in 2012 with comics from industry notables including Dave Gibbons and Mike Carey. Earlier this year, the company announced partnerships with BOOM! Studios, IDW Publishing, Top Cow and iTV.

“We have supercomputers in our pockets — we should expect more than just scanned in print,” Madefire CEO Ben Wolstenholme said in the official press release. “It is immense to have DC Entertainment bring Batman and Superman onto the Madefire platform.”
