The Crash Bandicoot release date was ‘leaked’ last week. First by a Finnish retailer and then by a Brazillian retailer, both claiming the remastered game will be with us next February.

Sony announced the remaster of the original Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped games at E3.

However no such date was given for when the remasters would be heading our way.

The listing was discovered on Reddit and details that the game will release on February 28th, 2017.

However it’s unclear whether or not either of these are placeholder dates for the retailer, but we would highly-suspect that to be the case because while the listing appears legit, it’s also got the same date as PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn.

More recently though it’s been discovered that these remasters won’t be entirely faithful to the original games.

One of the big questions surrounded whether composer Josh Mancell would be involved with Vicarious Visions Crash Bandicoot Remastered trilogy.

Mancell composed the soundtracks for the original games and fans were crying out to see him take up the task of recording some new renditions for the new release.

But unfortunately, Josh Mancell has reported that he will not be involved in Crash Bandicoot Remastered.

Writing on his Facebook page, Josh Mancell wrote:

“I’ve heard word that Vicarious Visions is doing remix/remakes for the upcoming Crash trilogy “remasters”. Unfortunately, I will not be involved with the project. Thanks for all the enthusiasm and positivity regarding the original music

However all of this Crash news is still a way off, and right now all the focus is on his cameo in the new Skylanders Imaginators game, which released last week and came in at an impressive 8th in the UK charts amid several big VR releases.

Imaginators also sees famed voice actor Jess Harnell reprising his role as Crash.

“Activision is paying homage to the beloved ’90s videogame star in fun new ways with Skylanders Imaginators,” reads a Press Release sent out by Activison.

“No Crash game would be complete without the ability to jump on TNT Crates to blow them up or collect the Bazooka Crate to get a rocket launcher.

“From his edginess to his trademark wackiness, Crash is featured with a full move set and upgrade path based around his signature spin attack, as well as callbacks to his beloved past, including moves that incorporate exploding crates with 3-2-1 countdowns, wumpa fruit, a jetpack attack from high in the air and more.”

Crash is available exclusively as part of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack.
