The-Colbert-Report-End-Date-630x354We know when Stephen Colbert will deliver his last Report on Comedy Central. On last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, Colbert announced the official end date of the late night show, telling fans that its final episode would air on Thursday, Dec. 18. In true Colbert fashion, the host made the announcement as part of a hilarious pitch for the paperback release of his book, America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t.

“Stephen Colbert, the guy you’ve seen here every night for nine years will be gone,” Colbert said holding up a copy of the book in his hands. “All you’ll have left of me is this book. So pick up America Again in paperback for a loved one. Or for a hated one. Go to your local independent book store, because I have a longtime war against Amazon, and I will never relent. Or — buy it on Amazon, because, you know, just buy it.”

Although The Colbert Report will finish its long-time run in December, David Letterman has yet to announce when his final episode of The Late Show will be. Colbert will take over The Late Show from Letterman on CBS in 2015.
