Although its Xbox One release was first teased almost a year and a half ago, Cities: Skylines is finally set to re-emerge for its debut on consoles. With Paradox Interactive’s city management simulator soon surpassing its second anniversary on PC, an Xbox One version is finally on track for a public showcase at GDC 2017.

Despite the game’s reveal as a part of Microsoft’s ID@Xbox showcase at Gamescom 2015, Cities: Skylines transition to Xbox One has been kept on the down-low ever since. With 18 months having passed since this tease, the game has continued to be among the most highly anticipated ID@Xbox titles on the horizon.

Cities Skylines is now making its way into the eyes of the public once again, being showcased during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2017. Kicking off in little over a month, we can expect to see the game running on Xbox One, alongside the various expansions that have released since launch.

However, being a complex game designed for a mouse and keyboard, we can expect to see some significant changes to suit the game to a controller layout. Although a user interface overhaul is looking likely, we could also see Microsoft’s long-awaited implementation of mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One. Between the launch of Halo Wars 2, Cities: Skylines and range of Play Anywhere titles, mouse and keyboard support is becoming an increasingly likely addition to the Xbox One’s feature set.
