Chinese Hackers Have Attacked Apple Too

Apple was recently attacked by the same group of hackers that went after Facebook, the company has admitted to Reuters. It claims, however, that only a small number of its workers’ Macs were accessed, and that “there was no evidence that any data left Apple.” A software tool is slated to be released later today to counteract the malware used in the attacks.

The hacker group is believed to originate in China. It’s uncertain if the attacks are connected to Unit 61398, a section of the People’s Liberation Army that the New York Times has blamed for many high-profile hacking attempts against American businesses, government agencies, and other organizations. It’s suspected that the Chinese government may be trying to steal US technology to aid its own economy, while also probing for military and infrastructure weaknesses. US hackers, though, are suspected of perpetrating similar acts against China.
