China Closing Movies Houses Again Due To A Rise In COVID-19 Cases

China is closing again all movies houses nationwide after recent reports that parts of the country were set to re-open. Exhibitors were order by the national film bureau to close screening venues again.

The spread of COVID-19 has slowed considerably in China recently, though there has apparently been a ‘spike in imported cases’ after 53 were reported yesterday as having arrived from overseas.

The latest jump in imported cases appears to have been behind the sudden change. No timeframe for reopening was disclosed.

China had been hoping to boost the film industry in the country during the coronavirus pandemic and even had plans of rereleasing major box-office behemoths in cinemas.
