ABC’s “Madoff” upcoming primetime miniseries is filling out its cast: Charles Grodin has signed on to play Carl Shapiro, the Boston philanthropist who was one of Madoff’s earliest investors and eventually had to return $625 million.
Lewis Black will play Ezra Merkin, a money manager who funneled billions into Madoff’s firm. “Madoff” will follow the rise and fall of the investment advisor and convicted felon, and the subsequent fallout on his family, associates and investors.
Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss has already been announced in the title role, opposite Blythe Danner in the role of his wife, Ruth.
The project, which is currently in production, will be directed by Raymond De Felitta (“City Island”). “Madoff,” which is inspired by ABC News correspondent Brian Ross’ book “The Madoff Chronicles,” is produced by Lincoln Square productions, in association with ABC Studios. Linda Berman and Joe Pichirallo will executive produce.
