Max Greenfield of New Girl will replace Josh Lawson on CBS’ upcoming freshman sitcom, The Neighborhood. Now Greenfield will play Dave — the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness.

Lawson played the role in the pilot. The Neighborhood (previously Welcome to the Neighborhood) stars Cedric the Entertainer, who is also an executive producer. Cedric leads the cast as Calvin Butler, an opinionated neighbor, when Dave Johnson (Greenfield) moves his family to a neighborhood in Los Angeles where not everyone looks like him or appreciates his extreme neighborliness.

The multi-cam hails from CBS Television Studios and is written and executive produced by Jim Reynolds. Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor will executive produce for Kapital Entertainment, along with Wendi Trilling. Cedric and Eric Rhone will executive produce under their A Bird And A Bear Entertainment banner. James Burrows also grabs an executive producing credit and directed the pilot.
